[email protected]Privacy at a Glance
Your Data Stays on Your Device
All step counts, GPS routes, and heart rate data stay on your iPhone. Steply uses Apple HealthKit—your health data never leaves your device.
No Cross-App Tracking
Steply never follows you across other apps or websites, and collects no advertising identifier. We measure app installs and basic usage anonymously — never tied to who you are.
Apple Secure Framework
We use the secure Apple HealthKit framework with end-to-end encryption for all health data. No email required, no account needed.
1. Information We Collect
Health Data
Steply accesses health information from the Apple HealthKit framework only with your permission. This data stays on your device and is never sent to external servers.
- Step count from iPhone and Apple Watch
- Walking and running distance
- Active energy (calories burned)
- Heart rate during walks (optional)
- GPS route data for live tracking
Location Data
When you use the live GPS tracking feature, Steply accesses your location to map your walking route in real-time. This location data is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded to servers or shared with third parties.
- Real-time GPS coordinates during walks
- Route history with elevation data
- Saved favorite routes
No Personal Information
Steply does not collect any personal information. No email, no account, no sign-up required. We don't know who you are, and we don't want to.
Anonymous Usage Analytics
Steply uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how many people install and open the app. This is the only information that leaves your device. It is never linked to your identity, and it never includes health data — no steps, no routes, no heart rate.
- App installs and first opens
- App opens, sessions, and time spent in the app
- An anonymous app identifier that is reset if you reinstall
- Approximate location (city level) derived from your IP address
- Subscription purchases and renewals, as reported by the App Store
2. How We Use Information
All data processing happens locally on your iPhone. Steply uses your health data to display your step count, track your walking routes, calculate calories burned, and show your progress toward daily goals.
GPS route data is used only to display your walking path on the map in real-time and save your route history. Routes are stored on your device only.
Heart rate data (if enabled) is used to provide accurate calorie estimates and track your cardiovascular activity during walks.
3. Data Storage and Security
On-Device Storage
Your health data, GPS routes, and activity history are stored on your device using secure iOS storage from Apple. None of it is sent to Steply or to any third-party server — the only data that leaves your device is the anonymous usage analytics described in Section 1.
Optional iCloud Sync
Steply supports optional iCloud sync so your data can stay in sync across your own Apple devices. Sync happens privately through your personal iCloud account using Apple's end-to-end encryption — Steply never has access to your data, and it is never sent to our servers.
HealthKit Security
We use the Apple HealthKit framework, which provides industry-leading security and encryption for all health data. HealthKit data is protected by your device passcode and Face ID/Touch ID.
4. Data Sharing
No Data Sharing
We do not sell, share, or transmit your health data to anyone—ever. Your step counts, GPS routes, heart rate data, and activity history never leave your device.
Analytics Provider
Steply uses one third-party service: Google Analytics for Firebase, which receives the anonymous usage data listed in Section 1. It never receives health data. We use no advertising networks inside the app, no social media SDKs, and no data brokers.
No Advertising Identifier
Steply does not collect Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA). The component that would read it is not included in the app at all, which is why Steply never shows you the "Allow tracking" prompt — there is nothing to ask for. Ad personalization is switched off, so your data is never used to target advertising to you.
Measuring Our Own Ads
When we advertise Steply, Apple's SKAdNetwork reports that an install happened. This is Apple's privacy-preserving system: reports are grouped across many people, delayed, and cannot identify you or your device.
Apple Health Integration
Steply syncs with the Apple Health app to read step count and heart rate data. This integration uses the secure Apple HealthKit framework and happens entirely on your device.
5. Your Privacy Rights
Control Your Data
You have complete control over what health data Steply can access. You can grant or revoke permissions at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.
Delete Your Data
To delete all Steply data from your device, simply delete the app. All saved routes, activity history, and settings will be permanently removed from your device.
No Account Deletion Needed
Since Steply doesn't require an account or store data on servers, there's nothing to delete on our end. Everything is on your device.
6. Children's Privacy
Steply does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. We collect no personal information, no health data leaves the device, and the anonymous usage analytics described above are never linked to an identity or used to track anyone across apps.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy as Steply evolves. Any changes will be reflected in the app and on this page. Continued use of Steply after updates means you accept the revised policy.

[email protected]GDPR and Your Rights
Steply is built to collect as little as possible. Your health data, routes, and activity history never leave your device, so they cannot be exposed on our side.
